DIVE RITE Transplate Mariner 50 Doubles Package

The Mariner 50 was purpose-built for technical diving with back-mounted double cylinders. Its wide, oval profile wraps around the sides of the cylinders, positioning lift higher in the water column. The result is improved stability and a more balanced feel, even when diving heavy steel doubles.

Traditional straight-sided wings allow the gas bubble to shift from one end of the wing to the other as the diver moves between head-up and head-down positions. This movement can disrupt trim and create an unstable, “balancing on a knife-edge” feeling. By contrast, the Mariner’s curved design keeps the majority of the gas at the highest point—just forward of the cylinder midpoint—regardless of body position. This allows divers to maintain consistent trim without the wing working against them.

The center panel of the Mariner was widened to allow a standard metal backplate to fit perfectly without pinching the aircell or the zipper against the cylinders. Two 1 inch x 3 inch hose pass through grommets are provided for additional hose routing options.

The Mariner 50 is sized specifically for 7-7.25 inch (17.8-18.4 cm) diameter cylinders. The 50 lbs (22.7 kg) of lift is well suited for mid-sized steel or aluminum doubles and additional stage or deco bottles.

The Mariner is constructed of a durable 1680 ballistic nylon material with SuperFabric® brand technology side panels for added protection and abrasion resistance in high-wear locations. It is available in the diver’s choice of rapid exhaust or elbow, and in 12, 16, or 22 inch corrugated hose lengths with single and dual-bladder options. This modular wing pairs seamlessly with the TransPac, TransPlate, or any other metal backplate and harness. Available in Black, OD Green, Blue, Red, and Pink. Made in the USA.

Transplate harness

A hybrid harness designed for divers who want the support of a backpack-style harness for better weight-load distribution, yet wish to dive a hard metal backplate. Designed like a mountaineer’s backpack, the TransPlate harness disperses weight across the hips and back, minimizing shoulder strain. When used with a six pound steel backplate, divers can remove or minimize weight pockets. Adjustable straps adapt to a wide variety of exposure suits and means easy donning and doffing. The modular design allows for customization with a wide variety of pockets and accessories. Available in sizes Small through XXL. Note: Stainless steel backplates, XT Lite backplates, and cam straps are sold separately. Made in the USA.

TECH SPECS

• Shoulder pads constructed of 1000 denier ballistic nylon fabric for tear and abrasion resistance. Two-inch (50mm) nylon webbing rated at 7,000 lbs breaking strength forms the shoulder straps and waist strap.
• Four 2-inch D-rings on each shoulder strap are slightly bent for improved access and placement can be adjusted. Note: Size Medium has only one 2-inch D-ring per shoulder strap due to space limitations.
• Marine Grade 316 stainless steel hardware is used throughout including: (2) bent D-rings on each shoulder strap(except MED that has only 1 bent D-ring per shoulder) and (2) waist D-rings, XT chest plates, belt buckle, cam strap buckles, and side plates.
• Shoulder straps feature pivot rings at chest level for comfort, fit, and load distribution.
• Acetyl resin engineered plastic quick release buckles on shoulders for easy doff and don.
• One-inch nylon webbing rated at 2,200 lbs breaking strength and a Delrin 1-inch quick release buckle are used for a chest strap.

BACKPLATE SS

Our laser-cut, CNC deburred and electropolished backplate was designed with rounded corners to prevent pressure points and snagging. Built-in holes for for bungee allow divers to sidemount stage bottles without the need for modification, and slots for cam bands make it easy to carry a single tank with no need for an adapter. At 5.5 pounds, this backplate is perfect for diving with aluminum tanks, thick undergarments or anywhere extra weight is needed.
