Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
This section explains what happens if a product is faulty, unsafe, damaged or not as described.
If something you receive is faulty, damaged, unsafe, not as described or not fit for purpose, please contact us and we will review the matter with care. Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund in line with the Australian Consumer Law. We may ask for proof of purchase so we can assist you promptly.
Change of Mind Returns
This section covers discretionary returns for unused items and when exchanges, store credit or refunds may be offered.
While we are not required to accept returns for change of mind, we may do so at our discretion. Where approved, items must be unused, in saleable condition and returned within 30 days of purchase or delivery. Depending on the item and circumstances, we may offer an exchange, store credit or refund.
Items Not Eligible for Change of Mind Returns
This section lists items that are generally not eligible for change of mind returns.
Change of mind returns are not available for special-order items, customised products, opened hygiene items, activated digital products, gift cards or items that have been used in water, unless the Australian Consumer Law provides otherwise.
Course Booking Changes and Refunds
This section outlines when course bookings can be moved, credited or become non-refundable.
Course bookings may include learning materials, digital registration, instructor time and reserved class places. Refunds are generally not available once a course has started, online learning has been activated, or course materials or certification processing have been issued, unless required by law. If you need to move your booking, please contact us at least 14 days before the course start date. Approved transfers are subject to availability and may incur a $50 rebooking fee.
Training Requirements and Booking Terms
This section explains the requirements that apply before, during and after practical training.
Securing Your Place
Training places are held in advance and are subject to instructor availability, course prerequisites and payment confirmation. Transfer requests are not automatic and will only be considered if received at least 14 days before the scheduled start date, subject to availability and any applicable rebooking fee.
If You Need to Cancel
Cancellations made less than 14 days before the scheduled start date may result in the loss of all or part of the booking payment, depending on costs already incurred and whether the place can be reallocated. Refunds are generally not available once online learning has been activated, course materials issued or training commenced, unless required by law.
Before Practical Training Starts
All required online learning must be completed before any in-person, pool, confined water, open water or other practical training begins. Required SDI, TDI and Tasmania Tech & Dive Centre waivers, acknowledgements and participant forms must also be completed before practical training and are treated as accepted at the time of booking. For minors, all booking and participation documents must be completed or approved by a parent or legal guardian, and participation may be refused until this is done.
Medical Clearance
The required medical questionnaire must be completed well before the course start date. Depending on your responses, medical history or current conditions, further assessment may be required before practical training can begin. In some cases, clearance from a SPUMS-trained dive physician may be needed if a general physician cannot complete or will not sign the diving medical questionnaire. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain any required medical clearance in time, and delays may result in rescheduling, postponed participation or an inability to begin practical training.
Attendance and Safe Participation
Students must arrive on time, attend all required sessions and participate safely and respectfully. Missed sessions, late arrival, incomplete online learning or documents, or unfinished training components may require rescheduling at the student’s cost and may delay completion or certification. We may refuse participation or remove a student where conduct is unsafe, disruptive, inappropriate or non-compliant with instructions, to the extent permitted by law.
Certification and Schedule Changes
Students must meet all prerequisite experience, age, medical and certification requirements before the course begins and provide accurate information when requested. Certification is only issued once all training standards, performance requirements, online learning, paperwork and required payments are complete. We may make reasonable changes to instructors, course dates, schedules, locations or training arrangements where needed for safety, operational, staffing or weather-related reasons.
Boat Dive Cancellations and Changes
This section explains cancellation timing, dive participation requirements and what happens if conditions change.
Boat dive reservations involve vessel planning, staffing and close monitoring of weather and conditions. Cancellations made less than 7 days before departure may result in the loss of all or part of the booking payment. Refunds may also be unavailable where a guest does not attend, arrives late, is medically unfit, does not meet certification or experience requirements, or is unable to dive for safety reasons, to the extent permitted by law. If we need to cancel or materially change a dive due to weather, operational needs or insufficient numbers, we may offer rescheduling, store credit or a refund.
When Refunds Are Processed
This section explains how approved refunds are processed and when you can expect them.
Where a refund is approved, it will usually be returned to the original payment method within a reasonable timeframe. Processing times can vary depending on your payment provider or financial institution.
