TTDC Policy-001 Privacy Policy

Tasmania Tech & Dive Centre (TTDC) is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers, students, staff, contractors and website users. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information in connection with our recreational scuba diving operations in Tasmania, including dive training, guided dives, equipment hire, retail sales, bookings and related customer support.

We may collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services and operate safely. This may include your name, contact details, date of birth, emergency contact details, booking and payment information, certification details, training records, equipment sizing information, incident details, and information you provide in waivers, medical questionnaires or fitness-to-dive declarations.

Where health or medical information is collected, TTDC will only collect what is reasonably necessary for safety, training eligibility, emergency preparedness, insurance, or legal compliance. We collect personal information directly from you where possible, including through booking forms, enrolment forms, online enquiries, retail transactions, incident reports and in-person communications. If you choose not to provide requested information, we may be unable to confirm bookings, supply suitable equipment, assess your participation in diving activities, or provide some services.

TTDC uses personal information to manage bookings, deliver dive courses and trips, verify certifications, process payments, communicate about weather or schedule changes, respond to incidents, maintain internal business records, and meet legal, safety and insurance requirements. We may also use contact details to send service-related updates and, where permitted, information about courses, events, equipment or promotions. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.

We may disclose personal information to third parties where reasonably necessary to run our business and diving activities, including payment processors, booking or training platform providers, equipment service providers, insurers, emergency responders, medical providers, professional training agencies, and legal or regulatory bodies. We do not sell personal information. Where we disclose information to service providers, we take reasonable steps to require that it is handled securely and only for authorised purposes.

TTDC stores personal information in paper and electronic systems and uses reasonable administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This may include staff access controls, secure storage, password protection and reputable third-party systems. While we take reasonable steps to protect information, no internet transmission or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, subject to any legal exceptions. If you have a privacy question, access request, correction request or complaint, please contact TTDC. We will consider your request and respond within a reasonable time. This policy should be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains appropriate for our operations and any applicable privacy obligations.

From time to time, TTDC may take photos or short videos at the completion of training courses, dives or related events to celebrate student achievements and promote our services. If you can be identified in a photo or video, we will ask for your clear and voluntary consent before using it on our website, social media pages, newsletters or other promotional material. We will explain how the image may be used and where it may appear. Consent may be requested verbally or in writing at or before course completion, training activities or excursion dives.

You do not have to agree to photo or video use to complete your training or receive TTDC services. You may say no, limit how your image is used, or withdraw consent at any time by contacting TTDC. If your image has already been published, we will take reasonable steps to remove it from TTDC-controlled channels as soon as practicable. Please note that we may not be able to remove copies already shared, saved, cached or downloaded by social media platforms or third parties.

For students under 18, we will seek consent from a parent or legal guardian before using any identifiable image for social media or promotion. We will take extra care with images of minors and avoid unnecessary identifying details such as full names, contact details, residential addresses or school details.

TTDC will only use images in a respectful, appropriate way and for the purpose consented to. If you have any questions, or would like to access, correct or request removal of an image, please contact TTDC using the privacy contact details provided.
